Learn Effective Golf Chipping Tips For Lower Scoring

If you have played golf for a while then you know how easy it is to lose or gain shots from the short game. The short game of golf consists of the wedge game, chipping, bunker play and putting. These are all critical parts and require regular practice as well as understanding the mental components to them in order to become your best.

Chipping tips:

No golfer hits every green in regulation. You will most likely miss several greens in every round you play and it will require good chipping skills in order to get up and down effectively. One key tip is to always focus on making every chip shot you face, do not aim for a 3 foot radius circle around the hole as this will only increase your margin for making mistakes. The feel and touch necessary for great chipping can only be developed through regular practice so make sure to spend enough time on the practice greens and look for the toughest lies that you can find and learn to chip well from those as this will make the lies you face on the course seem quite simple and you will not be intimidated by any chip shot.

For most chip shots it is best to play a bump and run type of shot so this means that you will want to place the ball slightly behind in your stance lined up with your right foot and you also want to use an open stance so this will mean pointing your feet to the left of the target at about a 45 degree angle. Be sure to follow through and keep your head down in order to make good contact and avoid hitting fat shots. If you want to hit flop shots then you will need to place the ball a little further up in the stance like around the center or even close to your left foot (right handed players). Make sure that you have a lie that allows you to get under the ball easily otherwise consider a higher percentage shot like a bump and run instead. Use these chipping golf tips to help you save shots around the green and have more fun playing the game. Click here to learn more on how to improve at golf.
