Effective Tips To Master Your Driver And Hit More Fairways

Many golfers struggle with hitting their driver off the tee. The problems a golfer can experience with this club can range from erratic direction to lack of distance or simply poor contact with the clubface. A goal for hitting the driver would be to hit more fairways. Gaining extra distance while hitting more fairways will also help your golf game as well. People who struggle with their drivers tend to fear hitting them and may hit 3 woods or hybrids in order to hit more fairways. The problem with laying up with a less lofted club is you will have longer, more difficult approach shots into the greens. Master your driver and you can give yourself a better chance of hitting more greens which will lead to lower golf scores.

In your golf setup with your driver, it is helpful to adjust a few simple keys. First of all, you want to play the golf ball all the way off of your front or left heel in you are right handed. Ball position is important with the driver because we want to hit the golf ball slightly on the upswing with this club and launch it high into the air. Playing the golf ball too far towards the middle of the stance will make it difficult to get the ball up in the air and have any kind of consistency with your tee shots.

A slightly wider than shoulder width stance will help you when hitting your driver. You want to have a nice stable base to swing and turn around. You will also be able to add a little more weight shift into your golf driver swing and thus create extra power. In the setup, a slight tilt to the right with your spine angle will help you hit better tee shots as well.

A huge key to better tee shots is to complete your shoulder turn and your backswing properly. Many golfers get their bodies moving ahead too early on the downswing which usually results in a slice golf shot. When the shoulders do not complete their turn on the backswing, they tend to open up early on the downswing because they have no where to go. Turning completely on the backswing allows everything to sync up properly coming into impact and will lead to straighter and longer tee shots.
