How To Hit The Driver Longer And Straighter For Better Golf Scores

Long drives are a lot of fun to hit however it is not easy to be consistent. There are a lot of factors involved in hitting the driver further and straighter.  The first step is to build solid swing mechanics. There is no point in swinging hard with bad mechanics as this will only result in drives that are not straight and thus do not go very far. You need to learn to swing properly and the first step is to have a proper grip. You will need to use moderate grip pressure for the driver otherwise the club head will have a tendency to twist too much through impact especially if you have high club head speeds.

Maintain balance:

If you are regularly losing balance then this is a sign that you need to back off and try to swing with a little more control as losing balance will usually result in bad swing mechanics which will in turn send the ball offline and you will not get good results. Keep the head down and behind the ball through impact as this will promote an upward path of the club head through the hitting zone. Leverage is a key factor in making the driver go further and straighter so learning how to get more of it is important so you can hit those effortlessly long drives more often. Another useful tip to get more distance is to pull the left shoulder up toward the sky on the downswing.

Do not be tentative with the driver swing, you need to swing freely otherwise you will most likely hit a poor shot. Develop a routine where you learn to setup effectively and then simply grip it and rip it. Be sure to follow through completely and do not come out of the swing prematurely as this will most likely cause the ball to go crooked. Another tip to get more leverage is to think of the club as a whip and simply feel yourself whipping the club through the hitting zone. Click here to learn more secrets to playing better golf.
