How To Hit Golf Ball Far

We all like hitting the ball far and it can be quite a challenge to get the level of consistency one might want with this club. The first key point to keep in mind is that in order to hit the driver well you must have good command of your swing mechanics before you try to swing harder.

It is important to understand the concept of lag if you want to develop effortless power. This is the angle developed between the left arm and the club. If you want to develop more lag then you need to learn to delay the release of the club to the last possible moment. Lag can be generated in many different ways however one thing that will definitely reduce club head speed at impact is releasing the club too early. This is also known as casting the club which happens when you get your dominant hand involved too much in the swing especially the downswing.

Keep the dominant hand passive:

It is important to keep the dominant hand fairly passive in the swing and focus on pulling the club with the left hand through the downswing and follow through. Another tip to help you get more lag is to start the downswing with a shift of the hips towards the target before you bring the club down from the top of the swing. Lag is important however you also need to make sure that you are using the right equipment for your swing type. If you can generate high club head speeds over 110mph then you should consider getting a driver with a stiff shaft and also a loft around 9 to 9.5 degrees for best results.

If your club head speed is under 100mph then consider getting a driver with 10 degrees or more of loft and also a regular to a senior flex. Learn the proper swing mechanics first before you try to swing hard. It is fine to swing hard as long as you are able to maintain good balance and swing mechanics. Tension is another factor that can affect distance with your clubs so be sure to use a light grip pressure and also make sure your grips are in good condition otherwise replace them since they will twist too much at impact if you are using worn grips.
