Tips To Help You Hit The Golf Ball Further

Hitting the driver is one of the most fun aspects to the game of golf. If you want to hit this club well there are certain key things you must keep in mind. To hit the driver far is a combination of good swing mechanics and high clubhead speeds combined with making sure that you have the right kind of equipment that is fitted for your swing speed.

Driver selection tips:

The kind of driver you get should be a function of the kind of swing you have and the amount of torque and club head speed you generate. If you have high club head speeds over 100mph then you need to get a driver with a regular or senior flex and make sure the loft is at least 10.5 degrees. If your club head speed is over 100mph then you should consider a stiff flex driver with 9 to 9.5 degrees of loft.  Good swing mechanics is the next step if you want to improve your ball striking with the driver. The stance for the driver should be around shoulder width and the ball should be positioned lining up with the left foot. Make sure the tee is also at the right height so you want half the ball to show up above the driver head.

Lag or leverage is the next key thing you must master if you want to increase club head speeds through the hitting zone and hit the ball further. The idea is to release the club at the last possible moment thus transferring the most energy to the golf ball for greater ball speeds at impact. Think of the golf club as if it were a whip and focus on whipping the club as this can help you get more lag. Another tip to assist you in getting more lag is to begin the downswing motion with a weight shift laterally towards the target before bringing the arms down. Also make sure to have low grip pressure, put 90 percent of your grip pressure with the left hand and you want to keep the right hand very passive throughout the swing - this is for right handed players, the opposite would apply for left handed players. You also want to think of pulling the club with the left hand through the downswing as this will encourage an inside to out swing path. Click here to learn more on how to improve at golf.
